Pratyusha Banerjee Suicide: Rahul Raj Singh’s lawyer backs out of case.
Pratyusha’s live-in partner Rahul was yesterday booked for abetment of suicide under section 306, 504, 506, 303 of the IPC after an FIR based on a complaint filed by Pratyusha’s mother, Soma Banerjee at Bangurnagar Police Station.
On Tuesday night, Pratyusha’s parents held a press conference and revealed shocking details about their daughter’s last days.
While colleagues from the TV industry had come forward with claims that Rahul had duped several women of their money under the pretext of producing films, and that his relationship with Pratyusha was of a violent, abusive nature, it was the Balika Vadhu actress’ mother Soma Banerjee’s statement to the police that finally led to Rahul being booked.
TV actor Rahul Raj Singh has applied for anticipatory bail in the Dindoshi Court of Mumbai, which will be heard on Thursday.
Meanwhile, lawyer Neeraj Gupta has given up Rahul’s case saying that his client was hiding crucial facts from him. “I listened to my conscience,” the lawyer said after walking out of the case.
“My client and his family did not tell me all the facts about the case,” Gupta said, adding that he had taken the decision to let go of the case on “humanitarian grounds”.
“I came across some facts and (that’s when) I decided to leave the case,” Gupta said.
Singh on Tuesday was booked for abetment of her suicide last week and also slapped with the charges of criminal intimidation, police had said.
Police are awaiting the viscera report of the actress.
